Finally some descent warranties over here, before it really didn't matter which brand you went for. Of course I went with EVGA anyway, but I didn't wanna' gamble with quality.

They already do Advanced RMA's here in the U.S.

This is great news. Now Evga is expanding their customer care across the globe, hopefully more people with start realising that buying from a company that takes customer service serious is almoust indispensable.

I've heard so many horror stories here in Europe from EVGA. I kept reading about people who got inferior cards when they submitted GPUs for RMA.

They don't. The "EVGA Advance" option in the US is actually a lottery system. You have the option of paying a large fee (IIRC ~$50 for my motherboard) within 30 days of purchase. After the 30 days, you cannot purchase advance RMA for that item, whether it fails or not.

The payment is not collateral - you never get it back, whether you eventually take advantage of the advance RMA or not. And it only covers a single advance RMA - if your motherboard fails and you want the option of another advance RMA, you have to pay the fee AGAIN, within 30 days of receiving your fixed product.

With the USA option, you're basically buying a really expensive lottery ticket, betting that your motherboard will fail once (and only once) so you'll hopefully eventually get something back for your money. Always read the fine print when dealing with EVGA. Frankly, everything they do is this shady.

Not really a big deal. Why?

In the UK we have the Sale of Goods Act. It guarantees that the product or service your purchase is fit for the purpose for which it was intended - and the retailer is liable. Although it's got fine print etc., the short version is that as long as you can demonstrate it had a fault at the point of sale, they're liable for up to 6 years to replace or refund or award a credit note to the value of the item.

The SoGA has been responsible for a replaced (failed) PS3, a new TV and 2 new PSUs (I was buying cheap, crap PSUs). Most companies tell you to shove it, but if you just fax them a copy of the filled in small claims court documents which you're about to file, they cave instantly.

GAME rolled over the moment I mentioned SoGA. They put me through to a repair dept, who arranged a repair attempt, and when that failed, a new PS3 slim was mine.

It's the law in the UK, and it's a pity more of us don't use it. IF you're sold something, it should perform as expected.
