GTX 570 flashed to GTX 580?

Anyone tried this? They have the same PCB? Same mem chips?

You could flash Point of view GTX 465 to GTX 470 by erasing bios first, then flash. You would get a fullblood GTX 470, same mem size, same number of Cuda Cores.

Edit: Looks like the GTX 570 is missing 2 mem chips

I think the fact that the 570 has 1.2GB of mem, and the 580 has 1.5GB of mem would make it a bit more obvious

And no, the 580 bios won't work.

Many GTX 465 had 1280MB memory, only their bios hindered them from using more than 1GB.

However, my picture proves that the GTX 570 is missing 2 chips

Well yeah.
That was when nvidia were in a hurry, and shipped 470s as 465.
Usually you will get lucky and re-flash it as 470s.

But I don't think nvidia would be silly enough to do it again. It cost them a lot of money to ship a 580 as a 570. The chips aren't very cheap.
