Looking to upgrade my headphones

Thread Starter
Hey all. I finally got my creative sound card hooked up and working, however my headphones sound like piss. Right now I have plantronics gamecom headphones, and my music sounds bad (I didn't know better at the time ). After the reading I have done, it seems most agree to get a separate clip on Mic so you don't sacrifice sound quality with the l33t pwn gaming headphones out there.

So........Since I am a complete sound noob, would ATH-A700s be good for my first go around? Not looking to break the bank. *Forgot to mention, I listen to mostly rock music and I game occasionally.

Thanks.

those cans would be plenty for you, you could even go with cheaper cans if your not sure you want to spend that much.

Alright. Well I don't mind spending that much as long as I know they last me for awhile. Buy once cry once lol.

They are $111 on Amazon with free shipping.

Never heard it put that way before lol. Buyers remorse has gotten from time to time . There are several people on this forum that suggest the cans you are looking into, I would say that if your willing to spend the money, its a safe bet that you will enjoy them.

I can say they are miles away from the Gamecom headsets, as I own one, and my Sennheiser HD212 Pros sound much better than them, my senn's arent as good as the AT's your looking to get.

Haha true, however I'll recover eventually from $100, and I am sure they'll sound better then my craptronics. Wish I would have known at the time, rather than having spent $70 on these things. They sounded ok at first but I think they have gotten progressively worse. =/.

fyi the AD700's are a bit less expensive if you want open headphones more than closed.

vs.

Hmmm, Iv'e been reading that the A700s are light on the bass, and a lot of the rock music I listen to has bass, now I don't know. If anyone has a reccomendation for $100-130 that will keep rock music and gaming in mind that would be great.

Yup, the M50s will treat you well. Also, what sound card do you have?
