58xx crossfire scaling: any good?

Thread Starter
How is the CFX scaling on the 58xx?
I'm planning on adding another 5850 into my system in the future.

Buying a new 6xxx series card is out of my budget.
Get a 6850, costs the same and scales better
post #3 of 10
From what i've read, the scaling is up to 60-80%. The 68xx and 69xx series get much better scaling.

I just added a 2nd 5870 myself, and I have no cause to regret it.

it's okay. if you can get a used 5850 for cheap (like $150 or less) it'd be pretty good.

which games do you play?

as said i don't have the budget for 2 new cards, only for one addition.
i play BFBC2 and that's pretty much it.

I cannot give you exact percentage, but you will not regret it. I have three 5870's and enjoy them. Currently running two 5870's and running around 135 FPS on Bad company 2 with all on max.

CF scaling with the 58xx is ~75% which isn't all too bad really

Scaling is 60-90% as depending on the app./game.

In BC2 maxed settings/1080 ~75fps one a single 5850 and ~130fps avg. with 2.
When at 950/1200 in both cases. With 2 you wont dip below 90fps.
