Yeh i was thinking of getting the gtx 480 which was $10 cheaper but i heard that they stopped making them so to sli in the future would be hard + the gtx 570 is all around a better card

Yeah, absolutely no difference in power consumption

570 might only be 6% faster clock for clock, but they clock higher and don't sound like vacuum cleaners to boot.

Yah, I've seen that bs before.

They're both using Fermi, there isn't some magic switch they flipped to add more cores, higher clocks, and somehow make them use less voltage and run cooler.

Do they clock higher? Cause my gtx 470 is clocked higher than most the 570's I see on this site.

It's 4%, not 6%, and to be fair, a gtx 470 is going for $220 or less with a free game, and a gtx 570 is going for $350+.

To add to that you link stock voltages/clocks, that are probably incorrect then talk about overclocking. We all know overclocking makes the power usage go through the roof, so whats the real issue you have?

Get a better cooling solution, still won't cost you nearly as much as a gtx 570.

Turn your fan up to 100%, let me know how it goes.

Fact is that the GTX 570 have a pretty identical stock performance when compared to a stock GTX 480. The GTX 570 have a better cooler that helps it run cooler and more silent. These are very important facts. GTX 570/580 are simply Fermi done right.

lol...

6% with all but one test at or below 5% except vantage.

Benchmark away with your 6%, it's really 4% bro.

I see the gtx 570 using more power than the gtx 470.

lol don't get mad, the new chips on the same fab are always terrible price > performance compared to the previous ones.

$160 for a slightly better hsf, and 4% boost in performance.

Don't get mad, and don't try to pass that off as a good deal.

Fermi done right has a slightly better cooler - wow... I guess Fermi was never that far off then huh?

Fermi done right is really fermi under water.

Edit: Here is one gtx 470 running 900 on the stock cooler.

Can you pls stop trolling. GTX470 is a horrible card unless under water. Mine could not break 800Mhz with MSI AB voltage limit. This GTX580 i have get 900Mhz with 1.1v. Not only that but fan never goes over 60% and temps never pas 73C. GTX470 in the other hand would get 93C with 93% in most games with overclock. Also to get a cooler that actually cools for GTX470 you need to speed 80+ and even then it would be impossible for 90% of GTX470to hit 900Mhz. Right MSRP for GTX 470 is 240$ and thats 110$ more expensive. The GTX570 i got for a frin was 370$ vs 250$ of GTX 470 and it came with 4 games. Performance wise GTX470 is not bad but everything else it what Fermi is hated for.

lol whatever, misinformation man.

http://www.axiontech.com/prdt.php?item=92180

$65 just destroyed your gtx 570 cooler.

GTX 470 is about $220 after MIR, and comes with a free Mafia II game on Newegg.

Nobody here hates Fermi except ATI fanboys who cite heat and power usage, then overclock their ATI cards which increases the heat and power usage dramatically, thus making them look foolish at best.

I don't see how I'm trolling, please explain. Explain why I should have paid $370 for a gtx 570, when I got this gtx 470 for $185 and it clearly is within 4% of your card.

Explain how your card is worth $185 more than mine, heck I could have bought TWO gtx 470's for what you paid for one gtx 570.

ONE of the three reviews I link says it uses more power than the 470, so the other two are obvious invalidated

The 570 has as many shaders as a 480 and it uses less power. The 5x0 cards are slightly more efficient. FACT.

If you're content with your "4%" slower 470, that's fine. I'm very glad I bought a 570 instead.
