(FDMI) VESA mounting, 24" LED, gaming monitor

It boggles my mind how difficult it is to find a quality panel that also features VESA mounting compliance. All it takes is 4 x 100mm holes drilled into the back panel.

All the marketing surrounding slim design, 1" thick panels, and light weight monitors yet no ability to mount them? Manufactures are completely missing the point of designing these paper thin monitors if they cannot be mounted. I hate all monitor stands they provide nothing but wasted space and poor ergonomics.

I am looking for a capable gaming panel that features the slimmest form factor possible and light weight without compromising picture quality. The panel also needs to be compliant with VESA mounting standards. I plan on mounting to an Ergotron arm.

Suggestions? My budget is $350 MAX. I would appreciate any recommendations within $200-$300.

I think you might have misunderstood my question. I know what mount I want to get. I need help finding a 24" LED monitor that is VESA compliant. Monoprice does have some fantastic prices on "LCD Desk Mount Brackets" though. I wonder how the quality compares to Ergotron? I do not want arms that slip and sag after a few years use. The Ergotron brand name has a lot of credibility as far as product longevity is concerned.

Yeah.... this is pretty much what I expected. Nobody knows. frown.gif I feel like this is my best bet as far as panel quality, customer service, and price.

$319 is so steep for a 23" monitor though... Does anybody know where it can be had for cheaper? I could stomach $300 shipped.

I have located an eBay platinum power user selling Dell u2311h for $279 shipped.

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Dell-UltraSharp-U2311-H-23-Monitor-U2311H-/150533350299

Even though this screen is not as big as I like this might be the best monitor I can get with VESA mounting. Any body else out there with an opinion on the matter?

My brother has that monitor, it's niiiiiiiice. Amazing color and clarity, and OMG it's so beautiful!
Edit: He has it's little brother, the U2211H, very similar nonetheless.

Sadly, (like most users here) I only know specifically about the monitor I currently own. It is VESA mounting compliant but its not THAT thin (it is kind of rounded in the back) and its past your budget at around $350-$400.

But its still good information to know. LG W2363D

Post any others VESA compliant monitors if you know em!

I've been doing a lot of digging on just this sort of thing. Considering you are looking at the LX series Ergotron arm the limits of the arm are based off a number of factors, the heavier the monitor the closer the centre of gravity of the monitor needs to be to the final joint in the arm.

Lets say you're looking at, for example, a Samsung P2450H (24") which weighs in at 5.4kg which although is 64mm thick is within the Ergotron arm's limit since the max centre of gravity that the arm can support at that mass should be about ~110mm.

Check out this table for more info on that sort of thing:
http://internalapps.ergotron.com/mirwebtool/capacity.asp?product=lx

What this means in terms of your query is that unless you are specifically looking for an uber thin monitor you have a fairly wide range of viable monitors. So far I have been looking at Asus and Samsung monitors since all their monitors that I have looked at have VESA mounting of either 75x75mm or 100x100mm.

Other that I have seen that have the proper mountings are BenQ, Viewsonic and Dell so far, but I'm not all that interested in these brands.

Feel free to give me a shout if you have any questions.
