i7, up'ed ram, 17" pro. Total surprise from my brother.

I've never had aM ac but this thing is stupid nice. I might have to keep it.

Never expected this, my gift to him was 2001 Space Oddesy, FMJ, The Shining and Clockwork Orange..... pretty good trade off.

Very nice.

My first MacBook pro was the C2D w/4GB DDR3, 15".

Once you browse using the mult function touchpad, you'll never want to use another laptop. Great machines, enjoy it.

Merry Christmas.

I would also have to say that Macs are great machines. They may not be fast compared to an overclocked machine. But they work really well at most everything. Mine is a 2.8Ghz C2D with 4gb ram also. 15" btw. I have to say if anything try out iWork before you buy microsoft office. Unless you use office for work or something. Don't know that i would have upped the ram though. Apple prices are expensive!
Finally an i7

LOL. I know, this is the first year he's been able to do anything like this, usually it's a dinner at the parents and we exchange games or something.

congrats and welcome to the macbook family. i've been contemplating a new MB pro since my MB is 4 years old but i just upped the ram to 4gb and put an SSD in there and it's good as new plus my laptop doesn't see heavy usage anymore that's what the sig rig is for and I'm sure she can take it. Merry Xmas

Wrong once you use 3x 30" H-IPS displays in portrait mode@ 1600 vertical resolution and 7680 resolution you'll never want to use another thing ever again.

Congratulations on your gift OP. Macbook Pro's are nice laptops, just hella expensive I am surprised it was your brother who got you it not your parents o.o. You must have a very nice brother.

Correction: They are nice looking and like any other mainstream PC or otherwise more than sufficient for general user's needs. Just can't do gaming on the same level yet (maybe steam can change that) without needing windows. As much as I loath Apple (the pricing and cult like worship it gets/demands) only a fool would return free tech.

And by the way, does your brother know I'm his long lost brother?
