my G.skill 1333 wont go to 1600 :(

Thread Starter
Hey guys. I tried to oc my ram from 1333 to 1600 by adjusting the speed on my mobo. It wouldnt boot, so I upped the voltage, and kept trying higher voltages but nothing happened. Im stuck at 1333. I dont know what Im doing when it comes to ram.

My timings are stock which I think are, 9-9-9-24

this is for my sig rig.

Please feel free to drop some serious knowledge, I am a noob.

Thanks, GINK.

Up the timings to 11-11-11-27, see if it posts under any voltage you've pumped through it so far (assuming you've been on the safe side).
So sexy it Hz

Sorry, you guys are underestimating my noob-ness. I dont know what your talking about.

I think my FSB is 200 my multiplier is 20 (if that even matters)

I dont know the first thing about timings.

If your FSB is at 200, then try to find the RAM divider in your BIOS and change that to something like 1:8 or 2:16

Timings can be found in CPU-Z download link is on the right.

After you download and install it could you go to the memory tab and take a screenshot?

That would help a bit.

1333 9-9-9-24 1.5V can use any IC, any half-good IC can do those settings. There are also certain IC's rated 1333 9-9-9-24 1.5V that are absolute-low-end IC's, as in, they can do that only and no more. Some members on OCN have reported 1333 9-9-9 memory kits that don't overclock past 1333 8-9-8 (timings) no matter what the voltage.

Your memory choice disappoints me, 1333 9-9-9 is used in generic prebuilts and is often not of quality (you had a choice of better memory with your custom-built PC and you didn't use it), and so you got a somewhat obvious end-result and consequence of no overclockability. What's especially sad is that the 2x4GB 1600 9-9-9 Ripjaws cost $10 less and are much better.

Also, upping the timings to 11-11-11-27 will make the RAM perform either worse or there will be no improvement. 1600 should be running at 9-9-9 max and no higher.
