Unlocking Voltage on Non-reference 5850's

Thread Starter
I was under the impression that it was impossible to unlock the voltage on a non-reference GPU. Well I have two XFX 5850's and both have locked voltages. After reading on another forum I found about a program that comes with Sapphire GPU's. It's called Sapphire Trixx. I was able to adjust my voltage as I see fit and was able to push my 5850 clocks from 700/1000 to 950/1200. That is an extreme overclock for me. Meanwhile my temps under full load don't even reach 55c. Pretty much getting a pair of 5870's for way less $$$.

How were you able to download this utility without registering a 6870?

Could you link the cards you're referring to ?

On my previous build I had an XFX 5850 Black edit. the voltage was easily unlocked by enabling MSI afterburner's 'unofficial voltage' setting.

Thats my card, the afterburner mod doesnt work with it.

Awesome!! I've been waiting for something like this for ages! I have a non reference Shapphire.

My stock voltage is 1089, what should I change it to? for 950/1200?

I was asking the OP ^^

But yes indeed, those don't work with AB.

Generally speaking, if it has a reference cooler, it should work.

Still can't adjust the voltage. any tweaks I have to do to get it to work? like the unofficial overclocking in AB. Doubt it'll work, guess i'm stuck with stock volts.
