Switching cases (Technical difficulty/URGENT!) - Page 4

I just built a new system last weekend with a CM690 II Advanced case and a GA-P55A-UD3 MB.

Regarding the front panel pin connectors: Notice that each of the connectors have a 'G' and 'triangle' marked on them. I matched the 'triangle' to the '+' pin and the 'G' to the '-' pin for all the connectors. This worked for me.

have you taken your cpu out? it's not very likely that it is causing the problem since it won't post but there could be a short with the cpu/cpu heatsink, that happened to my friend. Also, make sure you try shorting out the two power pins instead of using the switch. you can use just a nail or something and touch together the + and - pins for the power switch

Alright, I put my motherboard back into my case, plugged everything back in. No light on my motherboard is coming on, but there is a red light at the top of the case with a canister symbol beside it that is on.

hmm, so you got power going to the board but none of your hardware is starting up? Try resetting your Cmos, probably won't work but try it for S&G.

Is the PSU set to the correct 110/220 settings? It'll be a red toggle switch on the back near the port for the power cord.

If that's in the wrong position, you won't get any power no matter what you do.

try both ways on the PSU. when i had my first build i couldn't get it to turn on. I found out later i didnt have the 24pin pushed in all the way.

Just give every power connector a little push, check your front panel headers, cause there is some power going through it, its just a matter of finding where the source of error is.

like people said earlier, double, and tripple check, re- tighten the standoff's, and try everything over again.

hope this helps!

I had the same issue when I swapped to my 690II. But for me some how between the swap my psu died. Which is BS since it was used for less then a week. I don't seem to have a good track record with hx850's first doa, second died less then a week, and now the current one is still in the factory sealed box I'm scared to even try it.

Are you 100% sure the psu's are both working? Try the paper clip thing to make sure.

If your power supply still has that red switch on the back, make sure it is 110v. Do not set it to 230v. 230v is for European electrical systems, not American or Canadian electrical systems.

Also, did you change wall sockets? Flaky PSUs may power up in one socket but not in another. Your PSU is generic so it may have been the PSU that malfunctioned.
