Switching cases (Technical difficulty/URGENT!) - Page 7

Sounds like the card is shot.
But I'm not there to mess with it.
Before you get a new one make sure the old one is toast.
Good luck.

Apparently it isn't toast....it works outside the case, but it doesn't work when I put everything back in the case. It's the only thing that doesn't work inside the case....

Graphic card can't switch the power supply on, are you short-starting the separate supply?

Okay so I just tried a different PSU that is only 350 watts. Everything comes on but it turns off and then comes back on over and over. I think its because its not powerful enough.

Yes, this is exactly right. Your 350w isn't enough to power your system so you get the on and off thing.

Sounds like your board is just getting shorted out inside the case. Had this problem once before, make sure there aren't any standoffs for other form facts screwed in that would be touching the back of the mobo(although I think these standoffs are non-conductive)

As long as it all runs outside the case, nothing is toast..cept the case in someway...

1: Look at your old case...note the mounting points for the old case(Stand offs) Mark the same stand offs and use those only. Dont worry about the extra holes.
2: Make sure you have a fan plugged into the CPU fan cooler on the mobo as well as the #1 (Case rear cooler) as it will also make it boot then stop.
3: Be patent with what you are trying so as not to cost yourself more$$$$.

Everything is working all at once now, it's just that I don't get an image on my monitor and it sounds like my system is turning off every 2-3 seconds and instantly turning back on.

Check your on/off and reset connection. Maybe crossed. Reset maybe on the on/off causing it to reset instead of staying on.

Motherboard is trying to recover from something. Try re-seating the RAM and processor. If an LGA style processor and you've had it in/out of the board, check the pins on the motherboard. Make sure the CPU fan is plugged into the CPU fan header - some boards won't allow you to run without a fan there. Clear CMOS.

If it is a Gigabyte board, may be dead because I've seen a few Gigabyte boards try to recover (such as from a failed overclock) using the Dual BIOS feature and go into an endless recovery attempt loop.
