Good mobo + custom water-cooling should be no problem.

You'd need the RAM and mobo of the gods to get 4GHz stable out of a 2.8/3GHz chip with a locked multi. To get an X2-240 you'd need a 285MHz base clock.. You'd want a top end clocker's board like a crosshair to hit that reliably.
If you go up to the x2-265, you're needing to hit 250Mhz base clock. More likely, but you'll still need a good board and memory to cope with that.

What???? I have an ASUS M4A89TD PRO and the top stable base clock is 320.
It is basicly up to the cpu and memory for the base clock.
Here you go a good X2 4.0ghz gaming.

Thread Starter
Thanks dixson01974 and everyone else. I did several hours of research all day long and followed everyones advice and the lowest price I got for everything was about $700's ehhh kinda more then I wanted to spend, but in theory when completed the specs would be:

AMD Phenom II X2 555 cpu 3.2 ghz Overclocked to 4 ghz with the other 2 cores unlocked, ASUS M4A88T-V motherboard, nVidia 9800 GT fanless gpu, coolmaster blue led 4-5 PWM quiet 120mm case fans with adapter, corsair hydro h50 or h70 cpu cooler, Nexus NX-5000 R3 psu, NZXT M59 mid tower chassis, and 4gb ram.

It might take a while to complete, but guess thats why its a project. does eveything here sound ok? Thanks for educating me
