At $55 the VenX is more cost efficient, and the OP already has 2 AP-15 fans. And he wasn't asking about the Archon. He was asking about those two coolers or any other ones he hadn't mentioned.
True. So why couldn't he slap those AP-15's on the Archon?

He could, but the fans the Archon comes with are great and since he has already spent $35 on a pair of AP 15s the VenX would end up costing much less than the Archon. $125 for Archon + AP15s or $90 for the VenX + AP15s.

This is extremely stressful. lol I cannot make up my mind. The reviews of CPU Coolers are so varied that it makes it nearly impossible. Some use a few coolers with 2 fans while comparing to others with 1 fan and basically each one chooses a different CPU to use in the test as well. It's a PITA.

I spoke to Amazon and they said "the items are too far into our shipping process to cancel" so I will have to wait for them to arrive and then use a prepaid label to ship them back. That's somewhat stupid since there's no way they can possibly ship them out until Monday....lol But it will be extremely hard not to open them....

As far as the watercooling kit, is it a lot of risk and trouble? As I said, I have never touched WC at all so it makes me extremely nervous to try it. I know that it would most likely be my fault if it leaked, but things do malfunction from time to time and that could end with my CPU or GPU being damaged which is something I definitely cannot afford to replace out of pocket. Is there a lot of maintenance and aggravation to caring for a loop? I know that temps will be better but that definitely doesn't mean a loop will be better than a closed WC system or excellent air cooler overall with everything factored in. Thanks again!

You can minimize the risk by doing a proper 24 hour leak test but IMO it is a lot of hassle. You have potential downtime, potential loss of money, and something else to maintain all while gaining nothing (except for looks and slightly cooler temps).

There is too much for me, but I highly value low/no maintenance and risk. If you like to tinker around with stuff and have free time you might not think it is a hassle. Mainly all you have to do is the initial leak test, drain it every time you add a new block, and drain it if the water gets really funky. For me this is far too much maintenance, but for some its nothing.

Factoring in risk, maintence, and cost, mid to high end air cooling is really the best way to go IMO. A $250 loop will only get you a couple hundred more MHz than a $70 Venomous X + AP15 (unless you have really high ambient temps).

Thanks! +Rep because you addressed my exact worries and made the decision far easier. I think I will stray away from Custom Water Cooling for now. Maybe it'll be a better option for me in the future.

Now, I guess it comes down to Archon vs. H50 vs. H70 as to what is the best option for me. ^_^ H50 was $95 Shipped w/ 2x AP-15's, H70 would be $120 Shipped w/ 2x AP-15's, and the Archon would also be $120 Shipped with 2x AP-15's.

Are one of those 3 my best option or is there a sleeper lurking out there which would be better than all 3? Thanks!

Archon > Silver Arrow > D14 > VX > Mega.

Archon and SA with two TY-140's: each is quieter than the rest, and still cool better. The only mb manufacturer I know that allows voltage control of fans is Gigabyte, bless 'em.

I believe your Thermaltake Armor A60 should be able to fit an Archon. It's wide enough, and the Archon is only 10mm taller than a normal full height tower cooler. If not, the Silver Arrow has a great price, considering that it comes with two fine fans.

I have seen posted results with the SA of an i7 going over 4600MHz. There was a thread on this cooler, and the data indicates there is no sudden top end to its abilities.

As much as I love my NH-D14, I must acknowledge superior results.

TY-140's are PWM fans, so the accursed As.s P7P55D-E Pro I am using can still control those fans. The

Well personally I would rule out the H50 and H70 in favor of a Thermalright Venomous X. The VenomX is going to beat the H50/70, be slightly cheaper, and you don't have to worry about potential downtime in the unlikely event the H50/70 leaks (IIRC Corsair covers any damage done to components if these units leak though). So between a Venomous X and an Archon it would completely depend on your budget.

I don't know if you recently bought those AP15 fans or not, but if I were you and I had just bought 'em, I would try to return them in favor of putting that extra money towards the Archon. Don't get me wrong, the AP15s are some of the best 120mm fans you can buy, but the TY-140 fan that comes with the Archon is one of the best 140mm out there. If returning the AP15s is not an option I would just pick up the Venomous X.

I ordered my H50, AP-15's, and Thunderblades for my Case at the same time on Christmas Eve so I'm sure none of it has shipped out yet. I will try to see what I can do as far as cancelling or returning them. Here are my questions now:

Is the Archon the best Air Cooler on the market right now?

Are the TY-140 Fans better or equal to the AP-15's? I can definitely cancel those, pick up the Archon, and get another TY-140 to P/P if it will perform equally well or better than the GT's.

Depending upon the review the best is between the Archon/Silver Arrow/NH-D14. Here is a link to a review site I trust....

This is pretty much it right here, with the H50 coming in just behind the Mega.

TY-140s are consistently scoring very well in 140mm fan round ups, are very quiet and are PWM which is great to have. GT AP15s have great static pressure for their noise level and are some of the best 120mm fans around. If I had to pick between the two I would get the larger TY-140 fans since you can run them at a lower rpm (I'm a silence freak), but I would not say they are better fans.

There is a link to a 140mm fan roundup.

1. i wouldnt even go p/p with archon
2. 120mm fans on the archon would be wasted since its that big, it's probably the cooler that profits the most from 140mm fans
