I had to go to school for years and study film and filming techniques to become a film critic.
I am a video game critic, I have the aptitude and intelligence to comment on and create Top XX lists. Halo 3 and Halo Reach have paved the way for the future of console gaming, just like Halo 2 did before them. I could go on and on about why this is but I would just be wasting my time. To you Reach is "mediocre at best", and from that you concluded it shouldn't be on this Top 15 list, which is all the factual evidence I need to prove you have no authority when it comes to critiquing a video game.
To me, Citizen Kane is a mediocre film/story, but yet I easily recognize it is the best film ever made, and fully understand why most film critics also place it at the top of their Top XX lists. If I was like you and used my opinion to rank Citizen Kane, I would come off as a very nooby film critic. Instead, I rely on facts and hard evidence to form my choice that Citizen Kane is the best film ever made.
That's the difference between me and you. Your lists are blindly created based on your opinion of what your favourite trend is at the moment. My lists are based not on my opinion, but on facts and hard evidence.
Halo Reach definitely belongs at the top of any 2010 list, no other game came close to it this year. It doesn't matter how much you loved or hated Halo Reach, it still belongs at the top of any list, because the evidence shows it did the most for the video game industry as a whole.
lol, dude. I'd love to hear how halo reach has paved the way for console gaming. and game critique is as phony a title as porn connoisseur. probably phonier considering how full of **** most reviews these days.
halo reach is bloody uninspired poo platter. it has added nothing to the gaming landscape from a creative or technical perspective. come to think of it add nothing to bloody halo series as well. unless you think shooting the same people on a different planet adds something.
But then again that's type of bile that halo people think is revolutionary.
Halo as a series has not done anything since 2001, and even in 2001 it was behind the curve.
P.S: and anyone who say citzen kane is the best movie ever without serious reservations certainly doesn't know what they are talking about.Edited by dantoddd - 12/26/10 at 10:02am
