Water Cooling with SilverStone's Raven RVO2-EW

I'm looking at putting a water cooling system in my new computer. I haven't order anything yet, so everything is still up for discussion. After looking into the top air cooler's on the market, I felt that spending the extra $100 dollars for a Rasa kit is worth it.

The things that draw me to water cooling is looks and performance. You can't really go wrong. With the Rasa kit's being relatively cheap, it seems like the best way for me to go.

With my setup, I plan on using SilverStone's Raven case.

Here are my questions:
1. Will this fit the new Sandy Bridge Socket?
2. Will the Raven be a good case?
3. What Rasa kit should I get? [RS240, RX240, RS360, or RX360]
4. What else is required to assemble the kit?

I'm open to any ideas on the subject.

Oh, also, how much modding would I need to do to my case?

do you already have the rv02? because it's designed more for air flow than water cooling. a good water cooling case to get would be the 800D, 700D, or the silverstone TJ07. EDIT: if you aready have the case, then go check out emrican's work log on the case mod work logs section he devised a really nice looking loop.

I don't have the case yet, but it's the case I really want to use. If it's too much of a hassle, I will look into another case.

I'd check out a different case. That one is seriously a pain to wc. Check out all of the mountain mods cases. The monticle and pinnacle would work great

1. Once XSPC releases a new bracket for the 1155 socket, it will be able to fit. However, I heard that you can use 1156 brackets that comes with it. Not sure though.

2. Raven is not a good case for water cooling. As Kill_mellon said, 800D,700D, or TJ07 would be a great choice. Or if you have the cash, Mountain mods.

3. Out of the 4 rasa kits, the RX240 or RX360 is what you should get IMO. Yes they are more expensive, but the Rads are also way different. Worth every penny.

4. Just distilled water which you can purchase from your local grocery. And also kill coil.

What about a custom setup like this guy did - http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=183775.

How much would a custom build like that cost me?

Hey CHalupa, I have the RV02 and will agree, it's not the greatest for WC. But it is unique!

As you can see, there really isn't too much room in the bottom for a good size radiator. I used the MCR320, which is really as large as is recommended, especially with longer videocards (My gtx470 isn't too long thankfully)

The case really is a great case, for aircooling, but not even close to the first choice for water, unless you want to make compromises.

I don't know much about the kits, but AFAIK, anything that will fit socket 1156 will fit sandy bridge (1155) as they use the same mounting holes.

How much did your set up cost you? Is it north of $200? I might just be better off with air cooling for now.

I sort of broke the bank with mine. Total was ~500 but it could have been done cheaper, without all the compression fittings, ek gpu blocks, and back plates
