Yeah so how many times can I install Win7 on my computer because I heard there was a limit of times u can install win7 with the same CD key.
Could be wrong but I thought as long as you didn't change your motherboard you're fine.

AFAIK as long as it's the same PC with the same Mobo, you should be fine installing it as many times as you want. It's only when you change the mobo that you run into issues as the OS recognizes it as an entirely new system when you do that, in which case MS will usually work with you to get the OS reinstalled on the new mobo anyways.

Edit: Just as an example, I usually do a fresh install of windows every couple of months. Never had any issues.

i Have reinstalled it about 20 times so far with no issues lol.

In fact ill be doing it in the next week or so,

Hmmm and if I change mobo ? Cause the thing is my bro has win7 OEM installed on his comp but im gonna upgrade the system new mobo/cpu/gpu ... just wanted to know how many times i can do that cause each time i install i gotta activate it on internet ..
It depends if your license is a Retail or OEM.

OEM licenses are tied to your motherboard, while Retail can be transfered.
As far as I'm aware, there's no limit to the amount of installs you can make with either version but after a while the online activation will fail and thus you'll have to phone Microsoft instead (as was the case with my Windows XP Professional license).

I'm not sure if my copy of Win 7 Pro is OEM or retail (bought it through my .edu email address for student discount 1 year ago), but I used the same installation on the same hard drives and it worked seamlessly when I upgraded my motherboard, CPU, and RAM. I just plugged everything in, booted Windows, and it asked me for the product key, which I entered and it accepted.

You guys are a bit confused, it's not how many times it can be installed, but how many times it can be activated.

And yes. There is a limit. Or at least there's one for Vista. Somewhere around 8 activations, the key refused to work. BTW, that was all on the same hardware. I don't mean activating it on 8 different computers.

You can tell if your copy is OEM or not by opening system properties, and scrolling down to the product ID. If the copy is OEM, you will see OEM in the product number. If it's retail, you will see only numbers.
