HDD Woes

Thread Starter
I just got a 2 TB HDD for Christmas and am having issues with getting everything running properly.

Sata 1: 80 GB HDD
Sata 2: 2 TB Samsung
Sata 3: nothing
Sata 4: 1 TB Seagate

So the 2 TB once plugged in to the mobo shows up in the BIOS but then Sata 4 changes to nothing. I.e.

Sata 1: 80 GB HDD
Sata 2: 2 TB Samsung
Sata 3: nothing
Sata 4: nothing

On top of that, when I boot in to windows and go to My Computer the only HDD visible is the 80 GB one.

In device manager only the first two show up.

What gives?

Ok, so this time I ONLY unplugged the 2 TB drive. and the 1 TB drive was recognized again in bios and it worked in Windows.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I'm wondering of my PSU is too small.. *un plugs 2nd gpu*

Ok, so unplugging the one GPU did not assist the recognition of the drive. hmmm

The HDD won't show up in My Computer by default.
Are you certain that you're using that specific port in BIOS?

If you have an AHCI device assigned it should show up in the next screen, not the POST.

See if you have anything in disk management.
Start -> diskmgmt.msc

From there you can partition, format and assign a drive letter.

Nothing shows up in Disk Management. I'm going to try switching SATA cables... should have tried that earlier. Though I hope that's not the issue as I don't have a spare..
