No Signal due to new processor.

Thread Starter
Hey

I recently swapped my processor from THIS to THIS When I was finished installing it all I got was a black screen saying "No signal". I have THIS motherboard and I made sure it could handle it, I even got two friends to check it for me as well.

I checked with some other friends and they told me I might need a BIOS update.

If anyone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks!

stick the other processor back in, update the BIOS and try again, you need version 1.6 or above to run that cpu on your mobo:

http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=dow...1&prod_no=1140

did you try clear the CMOS when you installed the new processor ?

Okey guys, noobie alert here. I have never updatet my BIOS and I could need some help, can anyone guide me through it or find me some kind of guide? I have no experience in CMD and it would be kind of **** to mess my computer up by doing stupid mistakes.

I tried 1.7 and the 1.6 none of them worked.

You don't need to mess about with MSI mobo's, Google MSIHQ USB Bootable Tool and download it. Go to MSI's site, search for your Mobo and there should be a BIOS tab to the right, download the latest version.

Run the MSIQH USB Tool with an SD card or any memory/flash drive that's empty plugged in. It'll wipe anything on there AFAIK, then install itself and the BIOS you downloaded (it'll ask you to locate it during the program) onto the Memory Card/Flash Drive.
It's on-screen instructions take you through it all.

All you need to do is make sure your BIOS has the SD card/ whatever as your primary boot device, or make sure 'allow other boot device' or something in that area, is enabled. Restart, select flash (has memtest as option 2), follow on-screen instructions, hit 'y', let it do it's thing and restart when prompted, power off, clear CMOS, job done.
