random crashes really need help!

Thread Starter
Ive been having problems with my computer for the past few months now, crashing in 3d applications from videos on youtube to running around on crysis. i assumed it was my gpu which was a hd4850 as these are notorious for crashing. this week i decided to go out and buy a gtx460 to try and solve my crashing woes but with no luck, its still doing it . to fill you in the crashes started 4 months ago and were few and far apart they started to get more frequent and showed up in more and more games. in that time i also replaced my cpu from an amd athlon x2 5600+ to a phenom 2 720be, doing this meant i had to flash my bios on my asus m2n32sli-deluxe, im not sure if this could play any part at all. so far in my troubleshooting ive ran memtest86 and prime95 both overnight with no crashes or errors reported. temperatures are all fine (25C cpu cores, 49C cpu & 27C gpu) hopefully someone can help me with this annoying problem, im gonna be getting a good few games at christmas that i want to be able to play!

System specs
Amd phenom ii x3 720be (stock clocks)
4x1gb (4gb) corsair xms2 ddr2
Asus m2n32 sli deluxe
point of view geforce gtx460 768mb (stock)
80gb seagate & 500gb seagate
700w jeantech storm psu (sli support)

i have also tried booting up with an old xp hdd installing the latest drivers etc with still no prevail.

Ive found recently (today) the lockups can be completely random and sometimes it freezes and the mouse doesnt then when you wiggle the mouse or try to click something it freezes completely. it has frozen everytime ive tried to install nfs hot pursuit. maybe it could be a problem with the motherboard seeing as its an m2n32-sli-deluxe which isnt for the phenom II's. ive entered all the clock speeds in manually, even the voltages for the cpu and ram, although i did notice the cpu voltage doesnt seem to change in cpuid. its set at 1.315 in the bios but its showing 1.328 - 1.344 in cpuid.

Normally when I see random "weirdness" it's caused by a defective PSU.

id like it to be that, but im more drawn on the mobo being faulty as it started happening immediately as i flashed my bios and installed a phenom II Am3 into my m2n32 sli deluxe which is an am2 board. at the time i was a bit confused with it because i had my hd4850 crashing aswell, but i nolonger get the crash with the lines going down the screen (4850 crash)
Also id like to state that i moved my graphics card from pci express slot 1 to the other slot and it crashes less.

thanks for the reply!

C2 chip + 4 DDR2 DIMM's =
Though it's worked well for some people before usually C2 chips have serious problems running 4 DIMM's unless you set them to a certain (lower) speed.
