How to make my build cheaper ?

Hi everyone and Merry christmas !!

I did a thread the other day about a budget gaming desktop and here's what i found so far.

NCIX Gaming Bundle Deal AMD Phenom II X4 905E 65W OEM CPU & MSI 870-G45 DDR3 CrossFire Motherboard $159.99

Gigabyte Radeon HD 6850 775MHZ 1GB 4.0GHZ GDDR5 2XDVI Mini DisplayPort HDMI PCI-E Video Card $176.75 (after pricematch)

OCZ Gold OCZ3G1600LV4GK 4GB DDR3 2X2GB DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 CL 8-8-8-24 Dual Channel Memory Kit $62.99

OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W ATX 20/24PIN SLI Ready Modular Cables 135mm Fan 80PLUS Power Supply $69.99

Coolermaster Storm Scout Black ATX Tower Case 5X5.25 5X3.5INT 120MM & 140MM Red LED Fan No PSU $79.07 (after pricematch)

Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus Direct Touch 4 Heatpipe Heatsink AM2 AM3 LGA1366 LGA775 LGA1156 120MM $19.99

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA2 3.5IN 8.5MS 7200RPM 32MB Hard Drive OEM *3YR MFR Warranty* $44.99

LG W2243T-PF 21.5IN Widescreen LCD Monitor 1920X1080 1080P 5ms 30000:1 DVI VGA - Black $129.99

Total : $743.76 + $38.80 shipping + 39.13 taxes = $821.69

Now ... Is there anyway to make a few tweaks to get a system for about $650 (taxes + shipping included) ? The system is for my brother (current system : Core 2 E6300 + 8500GT on a 250W PSU so upgrading his system is like buying a new computer lol so I decided to get him a new computer ...)

$750 budget... perhaps you should try and find a deal with the x4 955 or better in it. I have no idea how far the 905E overclocks but if it doesn't that much it could potentially cause a bottleneck from the low speed.

The deals are amazing though, enjoy the awesome sale!

Yeah I dunno how the 905E OC either but everything there are the cheapest i found. I dunno if i should switch the 905E for a Athlon II x4 640 ... Also Anyone know how is the cable management in the CM Storm Scout ? Cause theres only 2 holes at the bottom for PSU cable and i dont see any holes for 8pin and 24pin cables ... :/

Is there any other case with good cable management features ? I know theres the 600T but kinda expensive ... the Define R3 is not too bad either and is super silent but my bro doesnt like the look of it ... hows the HAF912 ?

if you are gaming, the L3 cache makes a small difference in FPS. Noticeable depending on the case, but small. AFAIK the Storm Scout is an excellent case even for cable management... hm
Perhaps you should take advantage of the Define R3 + Seasonic M12II 520 deal (it'll be enough). I don't recommend OCZ power supplies anyway.

Well, I have a storm scout along with almost the same psu.

Not really the best cable management combo as the cables aren't really long enough and there arent many holes. Here is a pic I took of mine when I had my 5770

Lol, I wasnt aware that aesthetics were a requisite. In that case, go with the PSU that XD 1771 recommended, its of lower wattage, but its a great quality PSU and will be more than enough for a single GPU rig.

Edit: Theres this one too http://ncix.com/products/index.php?s...X&promoid=1253
