Trying to find a working power supply for the GTX580

Thread Starter
I got a GTX 580 for Christmas and installed it on my computer only to find out that I don't have enough PCI-E 6pin connectors to get the full 2 6pin to 8pin for my 580, so i'm attempting to find a better PSU and discovered that my PSU 12V rails are pretty bad.
I have an older model of this PSU that only includes one PCI-E connector and I need a newer one between the watts of 800-850. Since I don't know much about PSU's I would like some help on finding a good enough PSU to fit my needs.
The one I was currently looking at was this one but I noticed it differed a lot in the one I currently have.
Here are my specs for my computer I currently own:
Motherboard - ASUS P6T INTEL LGA 1366
Graphic Card - EVGA 9600 GT 1gb
RAM - 6.0GB Triple-Channel DDR3 @ 534MHz (7-7-7-20)
CPU - Intel Core i7 920
PSU - COOLMAX CU-700B 700W minus the second PCI-E slot.
HDD - Hitachi HDS721050CLA362 ATA Device
Thanks

Go buy that antec, do it now, do it right now.
Don't panic that it's different, you just picked out one of the best units in that price range.

So will it work with my current build? Will the 12v rail be enough the GTX 580 to perform at its best? Just wan't one more confirmation and then I will purchase it! Also what about ATXv12 and ATXv12 2.2 and the difference on the 3.3 volt, will that be OK as well?
Thanks!

3.3v is almost optional on new machines. You will be 100% fine, there's loads of people using that PSU on here, with similar spec machines to yours.

For those that didn't click the links, the OP's original PSU is a coolmax explosion waiting to happen, and he's picked out an Antec TPQ-850 to replace it with, good choice, or what?

Hmm a different one, choices... Well that only has 1 rail and the PSU I have is 3 that came with this computer so not too sure about a single rail.

Single rail vs multiple rail is a matter of choice in any PSU under 1,000w, really, pick one you like and that has good reviews, don't panic about how many rails it has.

And personally, I'd skip the corsair recommendation, the Antec is only $5 more, has 100w more, and is a newer design. It's not a bad PSU, not by a long shot. It's just not quite as good as the Antec. Either will serve you well, so get either of them, and will run your 580 perfectly. Of course, for the rig you have, a slightly lower powered unit would run it perfectly well. You could look at the Antec TPN-650, or the Corsair AX-650.
