The only reason you'd need a fancy smancy video card is if you plan on outputting to a bigger monitor. Otherwise a 5650 will be more than enough (he played batman on high with 30-40fps)
I normally hate Acer but this one is very well built. It's very sturdy, it doesn't creek like most toshiba's and dells when you press on the plastic. The heat is very well disappated. It's all in all just very well built, even I like it. And it'll save you 100 bucks to go buy a new mouse or something.

overkill much? for a laptop? What would be the use of a 5850 on that size monitor. It's overkill and useless heat unless theres plans for external monitor.
I checked out some benchmarks for the HD 5650 Mobility there is no way he is playing on high resolutions (1600x900 or higher).
The laptop itself can barely play games on a 1366x768 resolution.
1366x768all on/high, 4xAF23.9 fps
1024x768all on/med, 2xAF34.4 fps
800x600all off/low, 0xAF59.9 fps
Battlefield: Bad Company 2
1920x1080high, HBAO on, 4xAA, 8xAF14.8 fps
1366x768high, HBAO on, 1xAA, 4xAF32.4 fps
1366x768medium, HBAO off, 1xAA, 1xAF47.3 fps
1024x768low, HBAO off, 1xAA, 1xAF62.3 fps
So tell us what exact games is your friend or whatever playing? Resolution? Settings?
Furthermore cooling isn't even that great. 78c with highs of a little over 80c are not idea temperatures.Edited by AsAnAtheist - 12/27/10 at 1:23am
