Android Tablets and misc (lots of questions)

Thread Starter
Sorry I'm a bit out of touch with android tablets and android in general and was looking to OCN (vs android spin or phandroid) for help.

Anyone know what ever happened to the ICD VEGA, WETAB and the Notion Ink Adam?

Havent been learning much about tablets since I got interested in PCs and built the rig.
Last time I was there rockchips and Augen tabs were the only thing in the market, so pardon me if my knowledge is a bit antiquated (April 2010- August)
Is Motorola still coming out with that dual core phone the announced? What about the LG Star dual core?

Well...the Notion Ink Adam is Sold Out on their website and some people have gotten theirs, so I guess you can call it sort of released? :L The WeTab is only available in Germany and the Netherlands. And Dual-Core smarphones should start being released from January onwards

For the most part, current android tablets are not good at all. Adam may be an exception (I have yet to see anybody review it). Past that, it's the waiting game for android tablets. In fact, right now is probably the worst time to buy a tablet, with the new iPad probably ~3 months away, and a tablet optimized version of android about the same.

maybe you can look into these alternatives
elocity a7-a 7in tablet with nvidia tegra2 and 512mb ram; comes with 2.2 froyo; has hdmi out, usb port, and micro sd port
Viewsonic G-Tablet -a 10in tablet with tegra2, 512mb ram, and has usb port, 2.2 froyo, and microsd+16gb internal memory; also allows hdmi out through a dock; criticized for the crappy user interface, but many on XDA-developers has developed better UIs and roms for this device.
Advent Vega - basically the same as viewsonic g-tablet, but is more favored for better design and etc; has a full hdmi port; review ; currently not quite out in US yet. released only in UK

overall, adam is still the best, but these are the few tablets that are somewhat comparable to the notion ink adam
all of these should be under $400, which is way cheaper than the iPad

My Wife got an Android Velocity Micro, E Reader, Cruz. Lots of apps on borders.com. for the Upgrade of the Andriod OS to 2.2.........
The Download looks like a Zip file. when it is completely downloaded to your computer then plug the Cruz USB and transfer the Zip to the Cruz and the update will start Automatically.

freewarelovers.com has got the Kindle app. And lots more.

Bought the gtablet. It was horrible, the screen viewing angles are so bad. Even with the custom roms it still felt unpolished, and it is lacking gps.

I got the galaxy tab too and love it. It has the highest resolution from all the 7" tablets, and already has the android market.

Anandtech benched both the hummingbird and the tegra 2, and the hummy put up a good fight.

CES is coming soon, you might want to wait till then to purchase.
