New build

Thread Starter
Merry Christmas all, I am sorry if this is the wrong thread for this but I wasn't sure where to put it. I am going to build a new system as part of a holiday gift to myself. (I was extra good this year). I want a build that can stand gaming(yes I like them to run smooth on as high graphic settings as possible), as well as graphic design as well as some 3d work, modeling . I have chosen two systems in similiar price range and as it has been a few years since I built a computer and it just died recently so I have been researching new parts. I picked out builds, one AMD and one Intel. I know the reasons for the difference in prices but for the reasons I listed above I was wondering if the increase in price from the AMD to the Intel would be worth it. both builds will either be SLi (the Intel/Nvidia build) or Crossfire (AMD/Radeon build) and liquid cooled. I want to bring either processor to 4.0Ghz and liquid cool them both but right now I want to just to get the core build and will add the liquid cooling as well as second GPU at another time. Below is the list of my two builds any advice, feedback or criticism is welcomed as I am willing and eager to learn from my mistakes. Again sorry if this the wrong place for this.

AMD Build:

Asus Crosshair IV Formula

AMD Phenom x6 1090T Black Edition 3.2Ghz

G-skill DDR3 1600 8GB (2x 4GB)

XFX Radeon 6970

WD Cavier Black 7200RPM 1TB HDD

Cooler Master Cosmos S Case

Cooler Master Transparent panel door

Corsair AX 1200w PSU

Hp DVD-R/W

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Artic Silver 5 Thermal Compound

Intel Build:

Asus Rampage II motherboard

Intel i7-950 3.07Ghz

G-skill DDR3 1600 6GB (3x 2GB)

EVGA GTX 570 superclocked 1280MB GPU

WD Cavier Black 7200RPM 1TB HDD

Cooler Master Cosmos S Case

Cooler Master Transparent panel door

Corsair AX 1200w PSU

Hp DVD-R/W

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Artic Silver 5 Thermal Compound

Again any advice or suggestions for different components are welcome and happy holidays to everyone

I am partial to Intel, but do suggest RAID 0 with the Caviar Blacks. 2 x 500GB's should do.
