5850 tri-fire - Help !! - Page 2

I had 3 x 5850's on a HX850w, IMO 3 of these cards is a waste, good if your benchmarking but not so good for gaming...

Stick with two cards and your set TBH

the 2x5850 will crush a single 6950 - they'll also beat out a single 6970

Full review with the results I posted above is HERE.

The only problem is you have to consider that if you did purchase a 6950, you would have the opportunity of improving things with crossfire, trifire or quadfire at a later date - whereas with 3x 5850 you're pretty much at the performance limit - plus the power consumption of trifire 5850's is MUCH higher.

In all honesty, you'r 2x5850's are already quicker in the games you play then all single cards on the market.

If you had a 120hz monitor, and your minimum fos is dropping below 120fps, then by all means consider an upgrade, but if you onl;y have a 60hz monitor and your minimum FPS is not dropping below 60fps, then there will be fk all benefit of upgrading to anything else.
