Norton Internet Security trial ending

Thread Starter
I noticed that today will be the last day my Norton Internet Security will work since it's been 30 days since I used it. Basicly I had a trial. Now my question is that is it worth buying it for $50 for one year? Or should I use Free AVG instead? I get $20 off the normal price for one year since I got this computer but I dont' know if after this year it will still be $50 to renew it.

If you have a legit copy of windows then microsoft security essentials is your best bet. I'm quite amazed with it; it found things on my old man's computer that avast and avg never did. free too.

or Avira antivir free. been using that for, since 2005 and it's really done well .

plenty of AV solutions that are free and better than Norton.

Use free software like AVG or avast. You'll be pleased you didn't spend $50 on anti-virus software.

MSE or Avast free.

I've been running Avast for almost 3 years total (multiple builds) and never had an infection. (along with Google Chrome + Adblock and a monthly sweep with MB antimalware)

Another vote for Microsoft Security Essentials.

If you have that and Windows Firewall, and aren't a complete moron with your PC, you should be good to go.

So even I save $20 since normaly it costs $70 you guys still don't think Norton Internet Security is good? I thought if you pay money like Norton then you get very good AntiVirus and other protections.

Eather way is Microsoft Security Essentials totaly free from ground up like Free AVG? I use to use AVG as my AntiVirus but if Microsoft Security Essentials is better than I will use it.

Common misconception.
The downfall is due to the fact that it is one of the most popular Anti-Viruses. Therefore, it will be targeted the most by malware. If you have worked in any sort of virus cleanup or PC repair environment, it's a fairly common occurance for a customer to bring in a box which is infected and has compromised Norton.

It's usually hard to get them to go away, too
"How do I have a virus, I paid specifically for antivirus! Don't you know what you're doing?"
