My old RIIE was a beast of a board (I've also owned an E760 Classy, Flamingblade GTI, P6T, and my current RIIIE).

Asus it is then, What voltage did you achieve 212mhz bclk and what chip.

Im going to have almost the same setup as you, if by any chance you play bc2 what is your minfps at what image settings. cheers.

212blck? really? is that a joke?

Anyways go get a r2E and when you get a rev 12 X58 IOH and can't hit a blck over 200 then go buy the gigabyte.

Woops I lied it was 215mhz base clock. Chip was a Golden Batch 3849B018 Core i7 920 with 1.44375v (Bios) LLC On. 4.52ghz

linx100.png

Give me a few minutes to dl Fraps again and I'll run it in SP. (5870 will be at stock and all settings in BF:BC2 will be completely maxed)

212mhz was a joke. It was actually 215mhz. I could never quite stabilize past 215mhz, but I was able to bench at up to 230mhz base clock and my 3D scores stayed up.

Very nice OC

would i need to go above 200bclk if i wanted say 4.4ghz on a 950? cause im still reading up on i7 overclocking and the 950 has a higher multi than the 920, im sure hte asus would be the best choice.

Also the cpu the layout is a better option for phase change as i will need to art eraser around the cpu socket and the gigabyte has way to many capicators bunched around the cpu socket and that can be bad if i want to get a air tight cell around the cpu to prevent condensation.

For the 950 I use the 23x mulitplier which is the best. With 200mhz base clock you would be at 4.600ghz. The RIIE was really designed for extreme cooling and overclocking.

This is with the CPU at only 3.918ghz ram at 1300mhz cas9, 5870 at stock (I am working with a new bios and haven't maxed it out yet).

When I benched it, I got
Min: 32
Max: 37
Avg: 34.698

However when I just watched it I did notice the min drop down to 26 avg was about the same. Resolution was 1920x1200 and all settings completely maxed.

thanks for that, much appreciated, i found out for bc2 the best drivers for the 5800 series cards were the 10.4 and 10.5. Im a bc2 junky lols tongue.gif and bc2 runs alot better on a i7 at 4.2 compared to a 1055t at 4.2ghz, for some reason the i7's min fps is alot higher the amd's side, must have something to do with the architecture or the game coding or something, but alot of games have a higher min fps compared to amd.

You don't need a high performing board if all you want is 4.5ghz with a 950, if you chip can do it then the blck is no problem with any x58 board except the original ones, R2E is one of them.

Ha I was running 10.11 bc honestly Steam installed it for me. The i7's were definitly designed with GPU bandwidth in mind and they really shine in SLI and TRI-SLI.

oh yea I know i am scared to see how p67 will pan out to be honest. My UD7 with NF200 obviously has latency increased which will hurt performance. compared to my x58 UD5, but what can we do, hope its better than P55? lol I have the processor stabel and ready to go, I need the GPUs and we are going to have one hell of a field day! SB is amazing fyi, i would wait if anyone is going to buy x58 anytime soon.
