No I mean the shipping box, not open the PSU itself. The sticker on the top of the PSU will tell you what model it is. To be 100% certain, take a photograph of the back of the PSU, and post it in the other thread on this issue. Phaedrus will be able to tell you if it's the Seasonic S12/S12E or the PSHII based unit.

I don't think this is worth not buying the brand over.. They did achieve higher efficiency with slightly lower quality.. This is economics this happens all over, and they still carry the 5 year warranty. also aren't these more towards budget PSU's? @ $100 US I would place these in the mid/low budget builds, most people in this range will only run 1 GPU and if they want to run more they should have bought a higher end PSU in the first place.

I care and so should every consumer who considers buying a product based off of reviews.

This is the same crap Samsung pulled with the 226BW and they had to stop producing that product b/c of the scandal. It is 100% unethical to make a product well, send out review samples, and then change the internals of that product without at least a model name change, be at simple as adding a "V2" to it.

If I buy a product b/c it is supposed to perform a certain way and it doesn't, then that is fraud.

In this particular case I would much rather have the more reliable power supply than one that was slightly more efficient or has slightly less ripple.

Certainly should be the Seasonic S12, the only ones seen so far with the PSHII have had a -C on the sticker.
