Phenom II 905e/MSI 870-G45 Savings Worth It? - Page 2

Truly? At $50 less, well damn that certainly is worth it.
I could get the 640 for a hundred bucks...
I'd be stuck on what mobo to go with then, as now it has to be separate, no combo for it...

Oh, and completely new DDR3 memory I just realized.

Athlon II can use both DDR2 and DDR3 memory.

Oh right, that's what my friend was talking about... cleared up.

I'd still need a new motherboard though, correct? AM2+?

Yup. So your budget for a mobo is about $100, right? I know you're in Canada.

$150-200 in total for CPU and mobo, now that thankfully I don't need new memory.
The lower from $100 it is, the better. x)
Can you make a recommendation?

Something on tomorrow's Day sale hopefully.

For stock speeds go with this Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H, If you going to oc it you need to buy VRM cooler. Some people will said it is a bad mobo, but it is good for any 95W and under cpu.

Ah, well 49 NCIX customers say otherwise. O.o
Nothing cheaper would be worth it then?

This is looking pretty ok for me right now.
Nothing else needs replacing with this correct? Just making sure.

Like I said for stock speed. I built 5 systems with that Giga-byte mobo and all 5 are running fine.
Edit
With that athlon II and a AM2+ mobo. You are good to go.

I won't be seriously overclocking anytime soon, so it all looks good. ^-^ Thanks for clearing so much up.

Just one last check, nothing else will need replacing right? With AM2+?
