High-End Watercooling Setup - Page 7

If you buy the res through Frozenqpcmods (the guy's site) iit is cheaper (he has a special on ATM for the helix res). You can also request for more holes to be drilled, so it will be easier to route tubing.

it won't be a "floating chunk of metal bouncing around," no pump is strong enough to throw it around.(even a 355 with a new top didn't move mine) normally just sitsin a corner of the res. if he decided to put the return flow at the top of his res, how would he go about filling it?

and i think using pt nuke would be a much better idea. that being said, i shouldn't need any bending fittings then correct?
Holes
I wasn't sure about having the water coming into the reservoir having to push up into the water. An actual sequential flow (top to bottom) is what I was going for.

Fittings
In regards to the fittings. If you decide to run the tubing so that it comes in from the top then you will need a 90 degree fitting. If you want to go from the bottom then you won't. I would recommend getting a 45 degree bend for the part going from the CPU to the radiator.

Reservoir Size
You may want to get a shorter reservoir. That reservoir you chose is 250mm long so you may want to measure inside your case to make sure you have a place to mount it without getting in the way of the radiator, fans, ODD, and the case itself.

Fans
Yes I did mean push/pull configuration on the radiator (one fan on each side with one pushing air through and one on the other side pulling air through).

By using the third hole?? Just don't mount the reservoir until it's full. It isn't super easy but i've done it before. I have a Microres that at one point had an intake coming from the top and the output going out the bottom hole on the side and I still filled it.

problem with that, the 3rd hole is next to the pump inlet, you'd be running the risk of getting a nasty air bubble in the pump when you go to flip it back over. all that effort over something that isn't a problem. (running the inlet/outlet next to each other having to "push up into the water")

I've done it many times and it's not difficult to do correctly at all. If OP wants he can set it up with the inlet/outlet right next to each other and be just fine but if you look at the picture he made earlier in the thread he shows the tubing going into the top of the res and out through the bottom.

hmm, thought i made a post about that picture? guess not. either way, if he ran his tubing from gpu -> bottom of the res he'd cut out a huge piece of tubing. only reason why i've been on this part of the conversation.

I see what you're saying but IMO he could go either way. Cutting out 6 inches of tubing will not effect restriction but cutting out that 90 degree fitting will but with his pump it won't matter.

They've redacted that and are investigating. For now, the REAL culprit appears to be the O-rings, but for whatever reason they initially thought that the problems they saw were caused by PT Nuke.

Thread Starter
Okay so first off, I'm spending a ridiculous amount of money on a res and will not be putting a coil in there (i'll be using PT Nuke). Secondly is it worth running the gtx 480> res from the top and the res> pump from the bottom. I know that there are input output holes on the bottom of the res but I have seen this done and think it would be much more aesthetically pleasing.

1. How difficult is this going to be?

2. Is it worth the trouble? (What am I going to run into headaches or additional maintenance, etc)

Just to reiterate in the picture the loop is going:
PUMP>RAD>CPU>GFX>RES>PUMP
