They are doing the same thing you did to them, Slip streaming. You need more legs to put room between you and similar paced cars.

I only race the premium cars (in cockpit FTW), it is tough going at the beginning, but if you sell off all the standards you win early it can be done. Have to be very choosey about which cars/upgrades you get though and only get ones good enough for the race.

Oh, and final thing, do as many special events as you can, massive XP and Credits (at least by early game standards), and do Seasonal events as soon as you can (MASSIVE XP and Credits, even by late game standards).

Yeah...slipstreaming/drafting is so overdone in GT5 it tends to keep all the cars together.

started playing yesterday...tried upgrading my 98 3000 gt sl...can't put in any turbos or superchargers...? why?

does it have it to be a premium car? do i need to be a certain level?

any info would be appreciated

You can't (in-game). 3000GT's are very commonly turbo'd in places like japan/usa so it kind of strange Polyphony would neglect this. They have also missed the oil cooler for the KPGC110GTR, many spelling mistakes through out the game and in the manual (g# appears often instead of G3).
