Only 1 chassis fan on mobo, I need to control 2 of them

I wanted to take advantage of the qfan feature on my asus mobo. However, there's only 1 chassis fan connector. I know I can attach one of the fans to the mobo and the other to a molex, but, that wouldn't let the mobo to control the second fan. Any solution?

If the CPU fan connector is a 3 pin (not a 4 pin PWM) connector, you can use a wye splitter to control two fans.

Most mobos have a 2 watt limit on the total, combined wattage of all the fans connected to them. Don't exceed that.

CPU and Power fans are pwm controlled, the chassis fan is the only 3 pins connector. I guess I can still use the splitter there? Assuming I do that, I can't use the extra fan yellow wire, so I won't be able to know it's speed, right? That wouldn't be much problem at all

You can use a 4-pin Y-cable. The best is this. Free shipping, too. ON all Y-cables, be sure to cut one yellow wire so only one fan tries to report its rpm to the mb.

Asus mb's have a 2 Amp limit according to the manual. Gigabyte tech support says their boards have a 1 Amp limit. So: Asus up to 24 Watts, Gigabyte up to 12 Watts. Other mb's: consults your manuals or write to tech support.
