Im buying a cpu and mobo combo on newegg its a p2 x4 965 with a asus ASUS M4A79XTD EVO. i got it ordered with 1 4gb stick of ram.but would it be better to dual channel 2 2gb sticks or use just 1 stick of 4gb

Not going to make a gigantic difference.
The IMC on AM3 is kind of blah.
Even in dual channel you aren't able to get much more bandwidth than one channel would provide.

Of course, you could always buy another 4 GB stick

yah i chose the one 4 gig stick over the 2 2gbs cuz its supports 16 gbs of ram cant take advantage of it with them 2 gig stick in there. also would i have a problem runnin just one 4 gig stick.
