GTX460 vs 5850 vs 6870 - Page 5

as shown by the above graphs, get the dang 6870. or 6850.
People who keep saying Physx this and CUDA cores that. *** do you people know that like 10 games use physx, and a 6870 with a dedicated physx card LIKE A COUGH COUGH 8800GT would probably be better than a 460? also cuda is used in things like Autocad? Are you an aritecht? do you design games and work with graphics like in 3DSMax, maya and blender? NO? THEN YOU DON'T NEED CUDA. 6870 + 8800GT and possibly 6870cfx + 8800GT FTW BABY. And OP if you get the Dell U3011h or U2711H (as I presume from your earlier post) A 6870 will do fine in crossfire, but at that point when you drop 1k on a monitor, make sure you have about 500-1000 extra for a 6970/580 single or cfx/sli.

Official List:
http://developer.nvidia.com/object/p...d_company.html
whoa out of that metro2033 is the only thing that stands out. so thats why you're getting the underperforming 460, so you can play a terrible console port at like 10fps? psssshhhh

Edit 2: ok maybe BATMAN AA, but for a 7.50 game you don't really need to pay more for less. Lol and Mafia 2.

Look at my post before yours, physx is a joke. Aegia was a dying cause, don't know why Nvidia bought them. so for mafia 2 and Batman AA you will buy the underperforming card. 6850 OC's just aswell, if not better than the 460.

And on the topic of OCing. If your really want the 460, get a spitfire aftermarket GPU heatsink, I believe thermalright sells some. Much better and much better Overclocks, if you're into that.

actually having a dedicated physx card is much more better than that.

5850+9800gt(physx) is faster in mafia 2(with High apex physx) compared to a gtx 480.

a gtx 480 + 8800gt(physx) will also have much higher fps on mafia 2 compared to a single gtx 480

cons: you can't have CUDA on a dedicated physx card though when you have an AMD card

Meh, maybe on lower resolutions.

Look through all the graphs, at OP's res, a 6850 is better:
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/H...D_6850/16.html

single gpu and dual.

I bought the 460's in August. I didn't even know about barts coming out. If it was today... I would've done things much differently. firstly I'd probably be sporting a 570 or a 6950 + 240gt

sigh.. I would've actually had a much different build. i5 2500k, noctua nhd14 or xpc rasa 750, 500 gb hdd, Antec P183 or a Corsair 600T

GTX 465! Its right in your price range, and out preforms all of these. Link http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-557-_-Product Either that or just a GTX 460 1GB version. Either way they are super super close when compared. I like the GTX 460 very much, its a beast.

no offense to gtx 465 owners but I consider a gtx 465 a failure (not if you can unlock them to gtx 470) they run hot, consumes A LOT of power. you're better off with a gtx 460 than getting a gtx 465
