SSD noob - Just insalled my OCZ Vertex 2 - Page 2

Proper alignment for minimal wasted space is 32K. If you allow Win 7 to do it during install you loose a significant amount of space to a hidden partition with Windows files for recovery. All the AS-SSD is saying is that you have an offset that is equally divisable by 4096.

If you have doubts you can refer to the following: http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/fo...l=1#post567558

I have a 128GB C300. I have 120GB of free space which is 93% of the drive which is normal for any SDD/HDD. It is okay, I promise.

While AHCI might be enabled via you bios, it seems you are no using it on the drive which is causing the slow speeds.
Oh, well you didn't say anything like this about his screenshot. You see, he is asking for us to say whether or not it's good. So when all you said was "Doesn't seem like he is using either msachi nor iaStor. That is why something with AHCI is going on here I believe.", it confused me. I mean I bet it confused him too because it looks like you're assuming that he already knows something isn't right (which I didn't know either). But instead, he doesn't know one way or the other, which is why he's asking for someone to judge it.

That's why I started my post with "I don't know" because he asked "do these results seem about right to you guys?" after saying that he's really new to this so he doesn't know one way or another.

Then post back with results. Before you start them though note to see if it says iaStor where it currently says pciide. If it says iaStor that means that you successfully enabled AHCI on the drive and everything is working fine
Whoa. They finally got the latest version up on their site!!!

This is because Intel's Rapid Storage Technology driver requires either AHCI mode or RAID mode to be enabled. Except, someone just forgot to say so...

This bench was with the standard msahci driver from Win7 but it was made on brand new drive first Win install now after two months of usage and drive filled up (30GB free space) my result is around 400 with both msahci and intel driver.

Thread Starter
Thanks everyone for all of the replies & tips.

I think I've got it all optimized now. The main things I did was to enable AHCI mode and installed the latest chipset drivers (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sear...ntel%C2%AE+RST).

I also followed this guide - http://thessdreview.com/optimization...ation-guide-2/
