Need new 1156 mobo

Thread Starter
I am having trouble with my motherboard in my sig rig and I am basically just tired of its attitude. I am done with it and want to upgrade to something better. I was wondering if there is a board for the 1156 socket that can be somewhat compared to the R3E for the 1366 socket. I would prefer something that is USB 3.0 and 6b/s Sata capable as well as something that allows me to run to two PCIe slots at x16 rather than having one at x16 and one at x8.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. Oh and I am not going to get the Sandy bridge, I have decided to wait for more information on the Ivy bridge and right now I need a better motherboard. Thanks in advance!

You know there's no performance difference (well, no significant difference) between x16/x16 and x8/x8 Crossfire/SLO?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131621

That'd be your best bet. If you absolutely need x16/x16 then:

If you absolutely need x16/x16 and USB3.0/SATA 6, switch to 1366.

I have read about the very small performance difference, but its got less to do with the performance and more to do with the principal of the fact. Pretty much the same thing with next gen sata and usb, it more so irritates me that I CAN'T have both with my socket than anything else. I do appreciate your response though, thank you. Does anyone else have at least an opinion on my problem?

The MSI P55a Fuzion seems to be everything that I am looking for. As far as I can tell, it will let me run crossfire while maintaining x16 on both slots.

Runs best on crossfire, from the reviews I've read.

The MSI Fuzion is pretty good for it's price point so go ahead but research and read review yourself

It just sucks that they make so many good boards for 1366 and so little (IMO) for 1156. I don't really care about the price, I am willing to pay more for a great board, even if it was just something that I can put up with until the Ivy bridge comes out.

I definitely have been reading about it. I am more than happy to hear any other opinions. Or if someone has had personal experience with the Fuzion, I would like to hear from you!

Just like you said there is a very little difference between 16x and 8x. There are many great boards for the 1156 socket but you have to understand that the 1156 socket limits your capabilities. The 1156 socket was not made to be the enthusiast top of the line hardware so you can't expect those features. The 1366 is the enthusiast socket which is why there is no hex-core processor for the 1156 socket. Having 16x 16x is a feature not typical of P55 boards and that's why they need a special chip for them and it isn't something that everyone really cares about. If they did care all that much they would've just gone with the 1366 socket.
