Thermochill TA 120.4 now, or TFC Admiral Monsta later... Please speculate.

Hey guys, I'm in the market for a 120.4 or bigger rad to mount externally so size is NOT an issue. I'll be using 8x GT AP-15's (1850rpm) in push/pull. I am stuck between these two new rads. I have them all on a fan controller so I may undervolt them if my temps are good with my 360+480 to ~1400rpm. I don't care about the 1000rpm range, and I can't get the XSPC RX480 from a Canadian site. Price is not a huge issue other than shipping from the USA which is $50+.

Please help me speculate as we don't have tests yet >.<

TA 120.4
Seeing as Skinnee hasn't finished his review of the TA series data on this is pretty limited: 10FPI, dual pass, dual row, 11 tubes, and now G1/4" threads yay! In Canada this is $159. Rubber gaskets are 5$ each for a total of 10$ making this rad 169$+tax/shipping. Will likely fit inside a future build's case with a plus for me, but I don't mind the external mounting too much. I'm extrapolating results from the PA series to this one.

TFC Admiral Monsta
Supposedly coming next week to Dazmode and FrozenCPU. New rad design, but is possible that it will perform worse than our traditional rad designs based on cars. I'm guessing the Monsta 560/480 will be $250-350. Hella huge rad, will likely never fit in any case other than a MM. No guarantee on delivery date, price, or performance. Comes with one set of gaskets for one side of the rad for 120mm fans.

TFC XChanger 480 on sale!
Dazmode has this on sale for the killer price of 139$. 12fpi, but not as good of performance 1000-1500rpm like the Thermochill PA was (extrapolating to the TA series). I currently have a TFC Xchanger 360... so I don't mind adding another. Doesn't come with two sets of 120.4 gaskets Annoying as hell M4 screws that I can't find more of in Canada at any hardware stores for push/pull.

Comments/recommendations?

Personally I'd bet on the Thermochill. They have a reputation for quality, as well as flux in the PA series... dunno if they've fixed the overly excessive flux problem in the TAs, but that aside, they are the least restrictive radiators you can get. They should perform as well as Admirals, too.

lol Yeah, the flux I've heard was ridiculous in the PA series. The flux has changed however to be ROHS compliant I believe (trying to remember from Skinneelabs). I am leaning towards the TA. Thanks for the 2 cents. I'd +rep but you're a mod <3

Faced with a similar situation, I went with a TA120.3 and a TA120.4. Be aware that they are heavy little critters. Flush with warm tap water, no additives for 10 min per ThermoChill instructions. Residue gone. Final rinse with warm distilled. Skinnee was waiting on a batch to correct inconsistent welds, I have only noted one inconsistent weld across both rads. When performed with care, thread tapping can take up quite a bit of time. Fan mount holes can accomodate up to #10-32 if cautiously bored out. If the Admiral proves to be that much better, simply pick one up at that time.

Amazing price. Done and ordered

I also emailed Daz, the only admiral monsters made currently are the 420/360 which should be in next week. I wanted the 560/480, but who knows when/if it'll be made.

Thanks all!
