Thread Starter
Hello, i clocked my GTX 470 800/1600/4000 and get 75-85 MAX temps using heavy gaming like Metro 2033, but there is some spots on the card that are vry hot i cannot touch them is that normal? Is that the VRMs and is my temps fine? Thanks!

75c - 80c = 167 - 176F so it would be hot to the touch, hot enough to burn your finger...

Could be the VRM or Mem, use a program like Everest, it monitors the GPU, GPU Diode, GPU Memory & GPU Ambient...

At 800/1600/1700 my 470 runs the same temps with 90% fan. Nothing to worry about til it starts hitting the 90C and up range

90% fan isn't that super loud? With mine at that speed it drowns out my comp and my gf comp which is next to me.

You and I have the same office setup, unfortunately a loud fan is easier to deal with then a toasted card... And I told the GF to get the Zalman for my xmas gift, I got clothes instead... L

I should have my Zalman by the end of next week...

Nvidia really needs to step up the stock cooling, 6 generations of GPU's on these rear out exaust turbines... Time to run dual fan stock fans

Mine hits 85c(40c idle)tops when playing wow(fan is on auto). That is about the most extensive game I play anymore.
Personally I would choose quiet over cool. But wow cant push it that hard so no worries.

I play mostly BC2, temps peak in the mid 70's after a few hours...

I play a little GRID online, but temps hit 80 - 85c even with the fan on high, so usually I downclock to 700/1400 for that game...

Id rather have cool & quiet... Aftermarket cooling is a must...

If you're below 90c, there is no issue. Solved.
