should i buy the corsair h50 - Page 2

$60 for a H50 is a nice deal; you'd still want to pickup a couple good fans for it though.
You can also get a Megahalems Rev B from eWiz for $56 (promo code "naughtyornice"), you could get away with 1x good fan here if you wanted to save a few bucks.

From my own personal experience I found them both to be right on par with each other (both used in push/pull w/ GT AP-15s); only reason I stuck with the H50 was to save space in my smaller case.

I heavily lapped my H50, and lapped my True, both used the exact same fans on the exact same fan speed (fan controller) with the same thermal compound, the Thermalright TRUE was ~9C cooler at idle, ~6c cooler at load

H50 is **** for what you pay, don't let anyone tell you otherwise because if they like the H50 it's because they have never used high end Air which is at the same price point.

The H50 or H70 are only good if you don't want the hassle of a water setup, and have limited space (but most cases that can have a 120mm rear fan can fit the bigger tower heatsinks anyway)

I would never suggest the H50 over $30+ air cooling, my beat up TR True runs almost 10C colder and quieter than the H50 did with my 1055T
Did you ever use an H50? Mine is working fine and I can't even hear it. Maybe you had a bad one or something. I can't argue about it not being the best buy for the money but mine is pretty quiet.

Agreed. I've never noticed noise from my pump. With a decent fan upgrade (Cooljag Everflow for $15 on frozencpu had been wonderful for me) you can get good cooling and benefit the other components in your case with lower case temperatures by using an exhaust setup and expelling the heat directly from the case.

mine worked fine, i had the pump on a 3-4pin connector so it was running 100% all the time, loud. you can hear the water moving in the hoses, not really the pump

Hey guys im going to save you all the space and not make a new thread for this =)
Gotta bestbuy giftcard and it's still $60 bucks so id be paying half that.
I currently have the CM V8 and i hate how much dust it gathers and how hard it is to clean it out, idle 37-38 load 58-60

Would it be worth the $30 to get the h50? or h70 for 20 bones more

I have both coolers, the H50 and Mugen2. Have used both on my PHII X4 and 920. @4Ghz the Mugen actually kept the 920 cooler than the h50, on the PHII it was about 1c better on the h50. I have better fans on my Mugen than the H50, though not enough to make any huge difference. I think you made the right decision. At best, it would have been a sidegrade with slightly less noise.

Not sure on the V8 dogsofwar. I am pretty sure it wouldn't be enough difference to even bother. Any higher end air cooler is going to match or best the h50. It isn't all that great of a cooler, considering the price.
