How does CPU bottleneck feels like??

Hello everyone... i know it's a dumb question but i really wanted to know how does a cpu bottleneck feels like in a game... i've got a q9550 running 3.5 ghz 4gb 800mhz ram... gtx580.. and when i play battlefield bc2 i've noticed that there are some "lag".. i meant the fps will drop a whole lot for like .5 second, then go back to normal... im just wondering if this is what cpu bottleneck is...

I assume the gtx580 will handle everything fine in bf bc2.. or maybe not.. and i dunno if the cpu frequency is high enough to avoid bottleneck, i couldnt go any higher because my mobo sucks...

so my question is that what cpu bottleneck really feels like? any help will be appreciated... sry about this dumb question..

What kind of cooling do you have on your graphics card? that FPS drop to .5 and then going back to normal doesn't sound like a bottleneck, sounds like a overheating problem. Well at least from what I know.

BFBC2 is a VERY heavy CPU game I have no doubt that at 19" some thing resolution your CPU is a huge bottleneck to such a powerful card.

fortunately, 4Ghz is quite easy on those chips and that will help immensly

Well... it's overclocked to 850 1700 2200.. im running on stock air cooling on the card.. temps never went above 87celcius.. mostly is around 85 and 86... and i heard that it's normal for these cards to run at mid 80s... i guess it's probably not the heating problem...
