My First Gaming Rig .:. 400-450 Budget

Thread Starter
Im pretty good with computers and im not to bad with the inside either but i have never built my own. After having a chat with another member of this forum im feeling pretty confident that i could put together a computer myself without any problems.

Im on a tight budget but im planning to get the best i can for it. 400-450 Might be able to push 500 but if possible keep it to the lower end of 400. Im not really sure where to start so if someone could start me by suggestion the first one i should be looking for, then i can start looking for parts on my own.

417 Pounds ^^ Anything that could reduce the price.. Includes a case

404 pounds but no case. I could use my alien case thou. Will all the components of both options fit in this casE?

well you build everything around your CPU/Mobo and then from there you make further decisions. So really, decide how much of your budget you wanna spend on the CPU. The Athlon X3 450 is Tomshardware's best gaming cpu for 80$~. I think they are the best bang for buck at low price point. After that find any AM3 mobo and I'd go with 4GB of DDR3 1066 ram. it'll be cheaper and not noticeable from the 1333 mhz stuff . lastly a 400 watt powersupply should work and Western Digital has some inexpensive Green Series harddrives. Lastly, depending on your monitor...a 5670 is a GREAT gpu for budgets. It's a little more power than the old 'world changing' 8800GT except it's DX11. My dad has one in his rig and again it's Tomhardware's recommendation. It's capable of games like starcraft 2 on medium graphics and battlefield bad company 2 on low-medium. You'll be able to play the latest games on it tho. for case, find an antec 300. they are AWESOME budget cases. HAVE FUN WITH YOU FIRST BUILD MAN!

Just focus on a good CPU/Mobo/RAM. Video card can come later. For right now, a 8800GT should do. I suggest a UD3P and a Q9550. Any good RAM will do. And that leaves enough spare change for a 8800GT and a nice case.

Budget gaming? ONE SINGLE ~150$ Graphics, 4 GB RAM, good enough CPU and MOBO. Don't jump onto SLI or CF boards =]. Oh and whatever cheap case you can get.

Remember, there is no gaming without graphic card, but you also don't want to get the best graphics card and then have it bottlenecked by a bad cpu. Just try making the most out of your money.

What board are you getting?
Buy board without on board video.
Pair x2 555 with a board that can unlock extra cores. You'll need to push that CPU more than 3.2, and even unlock cores to play 2010 games on high, or ultra.

The Mobo's i have chosen both can unlock extra cores. Im looking more towards the top one, although it is a bit more expensive.

Will 6GB RAM Fit on thous Mobo's?
