PCI-e 1.1 is half the speed of PCI-e 2.0/1, and the newer cards are not certified to work in PCI-e 1.1 so the results will be less than expected at best. However you might want to rethink your priorities with your build, because it seems like instead of getting a 20% increase in Graphics performance you need a 120% increase in FSB.

Should work fine, yeah cpu will bottleneck it, but much more so then pci-e bus.. IF you are gonna build a new rig in a few months, I don't think there be any real probs..

Yeah if your gonna build a new rig go ahead and get it, but with your monitor you might not need that fast of a card, are you gonna be doing multi-monitor or running over 1900x1080? Cause if you aren't then you might wanna look into the 6870.

We're looking probably at 20% at best for your current setup, but at higher resolutions and with anti-aliasing we might see 40-70%.

Id say do it too youll be surprised at the level of improvement, and if you are upgrading anyways it will just get better when you do, always nice to have something you already used come back to life and be better Also by the time you upgrade should be some nice mature drivers hitting for the card too always a bonus there
