Computer Booting Issue

Thread Starter
Hey guys this year for Christmas I got:

i7950
DDR3 1600 Ripjaws
Openbox Asus P6X58D-E
Xigmatek Dark Knight

The problem is the computer will not boot. Everything lights up, the fans all start but I do not get a video signal. I think the issue lies in either the mobo or the ram because the DRAM light, which tells you something is wrong, lights up. When I tried to use the ASUS MEMOK ram tester it would not start. Anyone have any ideas? '

Thanks
Matt

You get any beep codes? Could be a lot of things right now, we need a little bit more details. Check that everything is plugged in correctly, try reseating the CPU, switch the ram out, if you have another system see if the power supply/ram/video card are all working.

No beeps, and I do not have any other DDR3 ram to test with. Is there anything I would need to plug in to hear the beep codes? There is no case speaker on the Antec 900.

Well I know my mobo came with a speaker that I had to plug in. Try just using one stick of ram at a time. Switch out all your ram, if that doesn't work then its most likely not the ram (its very unlikely that every stick of ram is bad). If you have any extra graphics cards lying around try booting with one of them in. Same goes for the power supply, or try to stick the power supply into another computer and see if that computer boots. If it doesn't boot after all of this it is most likely your mobo.

I already tried cycling the ram with and without my graphics card, and the DRAM LED lit up every single time. I think something s wrong with the mobo it was open box, and somewhat shoddily packed. I am going to RMA it and see what happens. Thanks for the help, and double rep+ for you!

Ok, I have a feeling it is the motherboard. If you do have another computer you can throw the PSU in I would before you RMA though. There is nothing worse then RMA'ing something that isn't broken. As I said I'm pretty sure it is the motherboard but always good to double check.
