Hello guys,
srry for my crap english

First let me show my rig :

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550
Asus P5N-D
Recom 600 Watt PSU
9800GTX+
Antec Ninehundred Case

When i start up my computer and go to bios it indicates that the cpu is at 50c and goes up each 4 second. When im in windows it goes up to 100c. I have placed my old CPU ( E6300) and it stayed cool, 50c max loaded. Ive also placed my current cpu(Q9550) in my other rig, and its realy cool. 50c max loaded.
One thing i noticed is that the +12v in the bios shows at 10v. is that it maybe? i realy dont know what the problem is.

Hi.

What cooler are you using?

Did you use the same cooler on both installations of the different CPU's?

Did you try to re-seat the cooler on the Q9550 when it was running so hot?

Yeah, I'm guessing this is a cooler problem. I don't see how it would get that how unless you were overclocking like crazy.

Yes used the same cooler on both installations.
stock cooling.. but is it normal that the bios indicates that the +12 is at 10v? cause my other rig is at 11.92v or has this nothing to do with the CPU?
Otherwise im gonna buy a new cooler

Sorry, dunno about the voltage reading variation.

Could be a sensor glitch. There have been several builds that I have done wherein the voltage readings were clearly incorrect. Bottom for me line is, if the PC functions then I keep on using it.

Is it is getting that hot at stock? is the fan running? what thermal compound are you using?

Sounds like time to invest in a good aftermarket cooler.

Stock cooler won't do you much good. Also, be sure to update your bios to 1401 from the asus site. My temps went down 10-15 degrees after the update. I'm going to redo my setup with some arctic silver 5 and see if that improves anything, i suggest you do the same when you buy a cooler.

Now check your vid and cross reference that with cpu-z's core voltage. I know that my bios overvolted my chip so it might be doing the same to you. My vid on a 9450 is 1.21 and my motherboard had it at 1.30.
