Which Display?

Thread Starter
I am looking at two TVs to become my duel monitor for my pc and ps3 display. They are both 22" however, one is 1080p with a res. of 1920x1080 and the other is 720p with a res. of 1680x1050. The 1080 one is $180 and the 720 one is $150. Also the 1080 is LED. I want to save money but the 1080p is soooo tempting. I'm really stuck and I don't know which one to go with.

ok I dont know much about those brands so I am ignoring brands here. I would get the 1080p since its LED and well yea 1080p. 30$ isnt a huge difference in price when talking about monitors. Def get the 1080p.

Now on another note make sure the manufacturers of these monitors are good makers otherwise youll regret buying when a problem comes.

Trying to save money?

Stick with your current one... It's 19"... If it's 1280x1024, it's good.

If it's 1440x900, it's decent...

If you are getting one of those monitors though, get the 1080p. There's no real picture quality difference between 1080p and 1050p, but 16:9 sees more in games and you get lots of more horizontal space to work with in windows...

I also just thought about it using a tv as a monitor doesnt always work out how you would expect. I had a 22" 1080p tv and the screens image didnt use the entire display. There was always a small area around the edges of the image that was just black (unused pixels).

I was using hdmi for that tv as well. Needless to say I returned it. I would get a monitor if I was you since your looking at 22" tvs. A ps3 will play on a monitor just fine.

I was spoiled with a 32" Sony Bravia TV as my monitor for a long time (to save some money) but even though it was very large and looked real nice, there is NO substitute for a real monitor for your PC.

As soon as I switched to a real monitor, I noticed how much better high-resolution can make everything look, even if the monitor is 10" smaller.

And I have always preferred DVI-D to a HDMI connection for my PC. Both are digital and virtually the same, but I have gotten much more pleasing results with DVI-D
