Anyone use a colorimeter with Win 7 x64

Ok, it's time for me to replace my aging colorimeter (display calibrator or what ever you want to call them) because I can't find any drivers for Win 7 x64.

So, does anyone here currently use one (LCD) with Win 7 x64 that does a fine job. Even more, if you've tried one and it didn't work, I'd like to hear it.

I'm really hoping to find one for under $150.

Thanks for your thoughts / help.

spyder 2 express. i got mine for $80 in 2007. it's probably dirt cheap now.

edit: just be aware that the express version can only calibrate your display to 6500k with a gamma 2.2. which is what 99% of the world uses. also your games will look slightly darker so compensate by raising in-game gamma a bit.

Yeh, I'm thinking I'll go with the Spyder this time around. Can't use the express though as it will only profile one monitor and I really want both of mine profiled (I use one in portrait with bridge open and then a second one with PS).

Unfortunately, Spyder 3 Pro is currently at the top of my range (or a little over). Guess I'll have to sell more stuff.

So has yours held up well over the last three years?

hi,

i've got a spyder 3 pro. do not expect it to turn a very bad monitor into a professionnal one. It nevertheless gets the job done and does certainly improve by a fair margin color rendition. moreover it is a good tool to match colors on multiple displays setup.

if you have any question, feel free to ask !

They are normal dells (fair but not great). really just want them to show they same thing on each and fairly close then to what my printer prints using their profile (read: the print shop I send files to, I'm done with inkjet).

So, it sounds like what I need to go with.

So, how does the spyder 3 connect to the screen? Hang down from top? Suction cups?

hi,

the spyder will do the job of matching the colors on both monitors. nevertheless, be aware that it does not work so well if your monitor has a wide gamut.

as for color rendition when printing, it will depend both on your monitors and printer/lab used. their gamut is not the same. in theory you would need to calibrate your printer as well, with another tool.

Hope that helps !
