Awesome. Used to have a LG Optimus GT540, but it got soaked and died. I now have a Motorola Defy, which rocks.

To each their own why does everyone feel the need to convince themselves and justify their purchase? What ever happened to just "I like it."

Anyway, I'm glad the App Store finally has some competition.

The Android Market needs developers to push out more quality apps like the App Store.

What I believe my point was in that situation, was that Apple, with their $200 dollar profit margin phones still hold a large proportion of the market - 30% iirc.

If Android has 40% and the majority of phones have a profit margin smaller than $120 (highly likely) then Apple is making a much larger profit, per unit.

If Apple had 3% and Android had 30% the point would be correct - but the differences in volume are far smaller - and top end phones are not selling close to the iPhone.

It is about market share, not profit. But why should I buy a phone only because their seller have the highest profit margin ?

No reason. I was responding to someone who said that Android phones make more money at the moment because they can play on the economies of scale. This is (from what I know) untrue.

I also agree with you, maybe they make more money with some premium phones like samsung galaxy s, but ordinary economichal phones can't make so great income. You can buy LG Optimus one for 250$ unlocked in my country, but add the taxes added because i'm in Europe Union, which are not something to ignore ( we are talking about 50-100$ here ).

I don't see this new bothering Apple anytime soon. With more and more Android flavors, phones, versions, providers, devices.....

Maybe if there were one single phone that's hardware competed with iPhone, until then, comparing iOS to Android is apples to oranges.

BTW, my moms new eReader has Android, it's pretty nice.
