I agree. But, 99% of Apple users just don't care about user choice, software and hardware. They want a nice phone, apple logo and the ability to play their music/videos.

You cannot assume everyone is a geek.

We all saw this coming. The iphone will hold a small portion of the market and will have its cadre of devoted fans but in the end Android like Windows will be the market leader. Apple will be back to begging developers to make software for their platform and all will be right with the world.

They won't have to beg I don't think. The average customer in the iPhone market is likely to have a higher disposable income and less knowledge of technology. Therefore, the ability to generate profit from apps is probably higher.

Low end Android phones are bought by those who just want a cheap handset to call/text. The high end Android handsets tend to be owned by those with a higher technological grounding and therefore are less likely to impulse buy apps. Combine this with Google's recent drop from 24hours to 15 minutes for an app refund and people are less likely to take a risk.

The Apple market is far smaller and more of a niche, but I would be inclined to say there is more profit to be made.

You two, quit talking sense! There's no place for common sense and objectivity in the OCN News section!

I'm so tired of people acting like Apple are soooo creative and create the best everything.

iPhone, it's been done before. ipod, itouch, it's all tech that's been done before, imac been done before. The list goes on.
ORLY!?

I like the way you reel of these so called 'copied' products and never actually name the products they copied off. Yet another baseless argument.

If they have all been done prior to Apple products, I would like you name every single one of them.

I have no problems with Android, well I do, my G1 sucked. However, the newer phones are getting some insane hardware but I won't be investing in another Android phone until they get a solid gaming platform. I use my iPhone for texting, ringing and going on the web, all of which my G1 could do. The only difference is I spend about 80% of the time on games on my iPhone, that is still something Android cannot compete with and I really wish they would start doing something about it.

In Finland you get ZTE Blade (android os) and unlimited (no datacap, 15mbps) mobile broadband for 6.90€/month, so in 2 years it costs you ~165.6€. Pretty good deal.
If you want that broadband without the phone it costs you 13.90€/month.
Free android phones for everyone.

One company adds voice control to their phone and a year, or half a decade later, others will follow. Copy or go home. That's how it works.

I believe i have seen pretty much all of those features that Apple lists on their site in Nokia phones years ago.
They just keep adding features to their phones what i thought where common and some even old:
MMS, video calling, multitasking, cut/copy/paste, folders, camera, web browser, mail, custom ringtones, calendar, alarm clock, notes, music player, game center.
The list goes on and on.

So what has Apple done before others? Application store? The first major one i know. Points from that. I don't think there is much else, except maybe touchscreen usability better then others 3 years ago.

All i see is polishing (well, not allways of course) and a lot of advertising. It seems to be working well for them, for now.

I switched from an Iphone 4 to an Evo and I must say I hated it at first but I've grown to like it more than ios. I think Android by default will be the market leader because it's on 50 phones and devices with every major phone carrier where Apple screwed themselves being chained to AT&T. It's no big deal in all reality. There will always be a market for both.

I think most of the people just want something that works. I've yet to meet anyone who bought an Apple because of a logo. They buy it because it works, is user friendly, and does cool stuff. As someone who has been on both sides the apps on Apple are much better, have more functions and are easier to use. I hate iTunes but for some it's an easy hub for every manner of media. For instance on my evo when I download a song or video it could be put anywhere in the phone directory. Without astro I wouldn't be able to find half of it, and I have to move it to the respective directory so it works on the media player. Some people don't want to do that. On ios it goes where it's supposed to and is easily played.

I like how Apple made the same mistake twice in two decades. If I was a shareholder I would kind of be mad. But there stocks are higher than ever so go figure.

android phones do work, are friendly, and definitely do cool stuff. there is no way you cant say they dont, and that was certainly implied by your comment here.

as someone who has seen both sides as well, i can certainly say the apps on the android market are definitely as easy to use as the ones on apples market. the only difference is that there are more developers pushing their stuff onto apples market because they know thats where "the money is at".

yea it must be pretty easy when iTunes goes ahead and cuts off all others (OS and phones alike) from using it unless its an apple based product.

im fairly certain that our phones could also use the ease of iTunes as well if they allowed it to.
