[Androidized] Android to Become Market Leader in 2011 - Page 8

I don't care what anyone has to say about the G1, I still love mine. Until I get my G2 anyways. I just got 2.1 Sense on my G1 from another custom 1.6 rom and got reminded about why I love android. The sweet UI+functionability+cheapness in price compared to the apple products (or any other phone for that matter) makes me happy.

main phone though is an android based phone...now to get to my points here ...

android phones do work, are friendly, and definitely do cool stuff. there is no way you cant say they dont, and that was certainly implied by your comment here.

I didn't imply they don't. Apple just does it better. Apple is like smartphone for dummies. However not everyone wants a corporation like Apple telling us how our smartphone experience should be so we like Android better.

as someone who has seen both sides as well, i can certainly say the apps on the android market are definitely as easy to use as the ones on apples market. the only difference is that there are more developers pushing their stuff onto apples market because they know thats where "the money is at".

I respectfully disagree. Put the Ebay and Facebook apps side by side and there's no comparison. I'm not saying every app on ios is better but the ones I used on both platforms are definitely better on ios.

yea it must be pretty easy when iTunes goes ahead and cuts off all others (OS and phones alike) from using it unless its an apple based product.

im fairly certain that our phones could also use the ease of iTunes as well if they allowed it to.

I hope that Android never gets anything like itunes, but it is completely plug and play with no guesswork. For people who like a dumbed down vanilla smartphone the iphone is the one to beat. People like us who know how to use simple things like a file manager like Android.

I'm not knocking Android by any means in fact if you read what I wrote I'm defending Android as the choice for people who like options.

wait, so you are talking about ebay/facebook, iOS versions, and expect it to perform the same as the android versions?

were you there with us when those apps first came out? they SUCKED on the iPhone and it took them a while to get it right. same thing with the android versions. actually, facebook app is pretty rock solid right now and the ebay version is gettin there as well.

there are some benefits to using an iphone tho. i do like nike+ and such (i realize its also on my touches ) tomtom is on the iPhone and i really really hope they hit the android market soon. but for now, i guess ill stick with navigation (actually works beautifully. used it on a trip from 85338 -> las vegas. no errors) and mytracks.

So much hate...

This is how it works:

iOS copied WinMo, but made some improvements.

Android copied iOS, but took out all of the child locks and made a bunch of improvements.

iOS then copies those improvements (or tries to)

WP7 is off doing its own thing like some forgotten autistic child.

Ultimately Android is going to become the Windows of the phone market, because Google is taking the hard road, by designing a versatile operating system that works on numerous devices.

Apple is treating iOS like they do Mac OS. Designing it around a single product and locking up all of the features because Apple's software engineers can't add something as simple as copy/paste, or the ability to change your wallpaper without messing things up.

So why would it be anything more than the niche product OSX is? Woz knows that the iPhone is only good if you're willing to wear blue jeans and a black turtleneck, and that Android is all around a better platform.

Android should be the market leader, they are available on all carriers.

Whats great about android is they have smartphones now for everyone, they don't have one exclusive high priced model like the galaxy s/droid x/droid pro are what $200, but you can get a LG ally or a dumbed down android for $100

I don't want to say android is better, but I don't like Apple as a company.

http://www.doubletwist.com/ is itunes for android.. doesn't do apps or anything just music

The cheap Android phones are terribad. I owned one for half a year, and it nearly put me off mobile phones. Android's excellent - cheap Android is not.

It's no big deal in all reality. There will always be a market for both.
I keep seeing posts like this where people say "Apple screwed themselves."

Do you have any idea how utterly wrong that is?

Apple uses a different business model than virtually any tech company in the industry. How else do you think they maintain such sky-high quarterly profits while everyone else flounders?

If Apple cared about OS marketshare in the cellular word, they'd have pushed the iPhone to more than one carrier a long time ago. Fact is, it doesnt matter to them, so they hardly "screwed" themselves at all.

All google has to worry about is software. They can push it out to hundreds of phones and leave the manufacturers and carriers to hash out the rest, all the while Google rakes in ad revenue - Which is what Android is all about in the first place - A means for Google to make money off smartphones. I can't believe no one on this forum realizes that (or accepts it).
