I keep seeing posts like this where people say "Apple screwed themselves."
Do you have any idea how utterly wrong that is?
Apple uses a different business model than virtually any tech company in the industry. How else do you think they maintain such sky-high quarterly profits while everyone else flounders?
If Apple cared about OS marketshare in the cellular word, they'd have pushed the iPhone to more than one carrier a long time ago. Fact is, it doesnt matter to them, so they hardly "screwed" themselves at all.
All google has to worry about is software. They can push it out to hundreds of phones and leave the manufacturers and carriers to hash out the rest, all the while Google rakes in ad revenue - Which is what Android is all about in the first place - A means for Google to make money off smartphones. I can't believe no one on this forum realizes that (or accepts it).
