I have yet to pay more then $10 for a single game through Steam. I have picked up so many great titles during spectacular sales. L4D 1 & 2, Red Faction Guerilla, Elder Scrolls 3 & 4, Stalker: COP and SOC, TF2, Portal, and the list goes on. I love Steam. However I would never pay full price for a game due to their horrible policy that makes it illegal to sell individual games or Steam accounts. But as long as I own the rights to the game forever and can still play them offline (which you can using offline mode with Steam), I will continue to purchase any great games that Steam wants to sell me at incredible discounts.

I think that with the deals you can find on Steam, being able to re-sell physical media is moot. You can save 50% on a game at the time of purchase. If you buy a full game at a retail store your lucky if you can make 50% of the price back by the time you want to sell it.

Steam is one of the greatest things to ever come to PC gaming.

Many people don't like steam because they can't resell any of the games they buy there (which makes them feel locked in or something), but i can't remember the last time i sold a game to someone.

I love how all my games are in one place, updated automatically, and can be downloaded anywhere.

There are alot of client programs that try to do what steam has been successful in doing. I have never had an issue with steam. It makes my life easier and I feel like that the program is here for me, as opposed to me being there to support them.

It makes downloading and organizing games easier. I love all my games in one place and hate other programs that try to get me to download their "steam" ripoffs.

I think steam and xbox live are the 2 most successful gaming clients

I adore steam, I even rebuy games on steam when they're super cheap so I don't have to hold onto cd's

Seriously.

PC Gaming would actually be close to 'dying' if it weren't for steam. PC Gaming needed a big gaming company to step up and be the standard for the platform. Sure, prior to STEAM we had Xfire and Gamespy. But we needed a standard just like XBL and PSN. STEAM delivers that AND MORE!

No doubt next-gen consoles will be following STEAM. With HD prices for 1TB and above going down very fast, I wont be surprised if we see sizes above 2TB for next-gen consoles assuming SSD's are still as bad as they are today compared to HD's ( That is unless something better and cheaper than SSD's is released )

So basically.. STEAM owns.

Overall I'm happy with steam. There's some killer deals and digital distribution is the way to go.

Only complaints are the sluggish startup times (that's only if it doesn't auto start on boot up) and it's a resource hog(I've seen steam use 200+ mb of ram more than once).
